October 2025 Vedic Astrology Guide: Grace, Conflict, and Unshakeable Truths
October’s skies demand both courage and surrender, as long-held stories unravel and more enduring truths begin to rise.
Thankfully eclipse season is behind us, but October still has some planetary twists and turns throughout the month. The Sun and Venus descend into their least comfortable signs, and Jupiter enters sidereal Cancer for a short time. Added into the mix, there are some subtle but powerful very planetary undercurrents in play from the outermost planets.
Let’s see how the planetary flow for October unfolds:

Sun: The King Cultivates Humility
October 17 – Sun enters Sidereal Libra (Neecha/Debilitated)
The King of the grahas begins its annual sojourn into its weakest sign of the zodiac, Libra. This transit can challenge confidence and leadership, but at the same time can cultivate humility, collaboration, and self-inquiry. This is not an ideal time for launching high-profile personal initiatives unless your chart supports it, especially for Leo rising.
Mercury and Mars co-present with the Sun add complexity: Mercury in Libra (through Oct 23) offers some diplomatic support and intellectual strength, but Mars, uncomfortable in Libra and locked in graha yuddha with Mercury (Oct 18-21)—creates tension rather than support. After Oct 23, when both Mercury and Mars leave Libra, the debilitated Sun stands alone until Venus enters Libra in early November, finally getting some meaningful support.
Sun finally gains some support and strength once Venus moves into Libra early November. More on this next month!
Mercury: Charm, Combat, and Depth
October 2-23: Mercury enters Libra
Mercury is at home in the diplomatic, fair and negotiation minded sign of Libra for the next few weeks. However, with Mars and Mercury both in Libra, communication during most of October will be right to the point! Especially around the Mercury/Mars planetary war dates, my Gemini and Virgo rising friends mark your calendars!
October 18–21 – Graha Yuddha: Mercury vs. Mars
Be mindful of your dealings with others, in person and on social media platforms since conflicts, mental overstimulation, or impulsive arguments can seem as though they are coming out of nowhere. This planetary combination calls for patience and clarity before speaking or acting. The plus side of this duo can give mental acuity and a quick mind.
October 23 – Mercury enters Scorpio
Mercury precedes Mars into the deep and mysterious waters of Scorpio. This is a good time to work with your intuition through tarot, I Ching or other forms of divination. Conversations that have emotional depth, strategic thinking and candor are supported. Mercury’s shift into Scorpio also ends the Neecha Bhanga Yoga protecting Venus (see next section), intensifying Venus’s weakness through the end of October.
Venus: From the Fire of Leo to the Fall of Virgo
Now through October 8 – Venus conjunct Ketu in Leo
Relationships and creativity could be shifting…don’t panic if things feel temporarily confusing or if someone’s pulling away during this time period. Ketu shows us what we’ve outgrown. You might discover a deeper spiritual connection to beauty or love when you stop grasping for the surface stuff. The clarity you’re looking for comes through letting go, rather than controlling the outcome. But beware of “headless” actions through the first week of October as Venus approaches Ketu and remains near Ketu, especially October 1-3, and particularly for my Taurus and Libra rising friends.
October 9-23 – Venus in Virgo
Venus enters its debilitation sign but receives some relief from Mercury in Libra (Venus’s sign) forming a parivartana yoga which creates neecha bhanga, a cancellation of debilitation. During this period, Venus maintains functional strength despite being in its least comforatable sign.
At the same time Venus is opposite Saturn and Neptune throughout its Virgo transit, placing additional pressure on relationships and Venusian values. The natural expression of Venus can be inhibited by serious Saturn and muddied by Neptune’s rose-colored glasses. You might find yourself serving others through love rather than seeking pleasure. Saturn’s influence creates a more utilitarian view of beauty and luxury.
October 24 - November 2 – Venus Unprotected
Venus loses support from Mercury during the graha yuddha (Oct 18-21) and after Mercury leaves Libra on the 23, being the weakest points of October for Venus. Pressure from Saturn and Neptune also intensify without Mercury’s help. Venus finally regains strength when it enters its own sign Libra on November 2.
Mars: From Battle of Words to Strategic Mastery
October 2-27 – Mars in Libra
Mars spends most of October in Libra, where the warrior planet’s assertive ways is uncomfortable with Libra’s inherently diplomatic nature. You might end up feeling unsure or even a bit irritated when you try to speak up with confidence. However, for Capricorn rising, Mars does receive directional strength (digbala) in the 10th house for the month. Use this strategic yet diplomatic energy to network and build alliances that support your professional goals. During the first half of October, Mercury and Mars receives Jupiter’s wise gaze as they transit through Libra. Let’s hope that Jupiters grace can prevail as they head into the graha yuddha!
October 18–21 – Graha Yuddha with Mercury
The planetary war between Mars and Mercury intensifies the discomfort of Mars in Libra and the malefic presence of Mars is very detrimental to Mercury. Mental tension, challenging communication, and decision overload can be especially intense during this time. This is not the time for ultimatums or rash decisions in relationships. Although there is always a winner of the planetary war, both planets suffer and are weakened during the conflict. For Aries, Scorpio, Gemini and Virgo rising friends, this battle directly involves your chart ruler. Proceed with extra caution in all communications.
October 27 – Mars enters Scorpio
Mars finally returns home to its own sign, regaining strength and strategic power. The sign Scorpio supports Mars resourcefulness focus and its ability to bring major transformation. Scorpio is Mars comfort zone for the next few months, however, there is a twist during this transit!
Mars remains opposite Uranus (retrograde in Taurus around 6-7 degrees), creating volatile, unpredictable energy. This combination of planets can manifest as sudden breakthroughs or sudden breaks, depending on how consciously (or unconsciously) you work with the energies. The key is working with the volatility intentionally rather than letting it erupt.
If you have planets in early degrees of fixed signs (Taurus, Leo, Scorpio, Aquarius), this Mars/Uranus opposition period (through December 6) will be particularly galvanizing since this opposition activates the angles of your birth chart, which are the most powerful houses. Use this energy for surgical precision in eliminating what no longer serves, rather than scorched-earth tactics you might regret later.
Jupiter: A Brief Stay at the Palace
October 18 – Jupiter enters Cancer (Exalted)
Libra and Aquarius rising individuals benefit from Jupiters protective influence through mid-October.
On October 18, Jupiter enters its sign of exaltation in Cancer—though only briefly. Jupiter remains exalted through December 4, opening a powerful window for emotional growth, nurturing wisdom, and stabilizing faith. This transit is especially beneficial for Cancer, Scorpio and Pisces rising individuals, as Jupiter graces your first house with expansion and protection.
Saturn & Neptune: Still Dreaming Backwards
October 3 – Saturn retrograde moves back into Purva Bhadrapada/ Neptune remains retrograde in Uttara Bhadrapada
Revisit the Saturn series for all the details on this transit – especially part two: Serpent of the Deep: Saturn, Neptune & the Shakti of Uttara Bhadrapada (Part 2)
The long dissolve continues. With both Saturn and Neptune retrograde the boundary between spiritual idealism and practical reality becomes increasingly porous. The deep, often uncomfortable work of examining which of your structures are built on solid ground versus which are built on fantasy continues.
Uranus–Pluto: Deep Breakthroughs Below the Surface
October 1-31: Uranus (retrograde) trine Pluto
This long, slow burning yet flowing planetary combination remains in a tight trine (both in earth signs) all month, with both planets hovering around 6-7 degrees of their respective signs. Uranus retrograde in Taurus (Krittika nakshatra) trines Pluto in Capricorn (Uttara Ashadha nakshatra), creating a potent channel for deep transformation.
This combination can precipitate not-so-subtle shifts, particularly in areas of material security, ambition, and long-term structures. The Krittika-Uttara Ashadha connection brings themes of purification through fire and invincible determination to help us cut away what’s false to reveal unshakeable truth. This is an especially transformational influence regarding long-term patterns and generational influences in our lives. Whichever houses Capricorn and Taurus represent in your chart is the key to how this can manifest.
Pluto: Time to Move Forward
October 13 – Pluto stations direct in Capricorn
Subtle but meaningful. Where there has been delay, buried tension, or if you have been undergoing a soul-deep reorganization…Pluto’s forward motion begins integration. Pay attention to the house Capricorn represents in your birth chart, this is the area of life where you’re ready to move forward with the transformation that’s been brewing since Pluto went retrograde in May.

The Uranus-Pluto trine is reshaping how you show up in the world, slowly composting the old version of you.

♋️ Cancer Rising: Expansive Jupiter enters your 1st house and its exaltation sign on Oct 18, bringing spiritual confidence and faith through early December. The Full Moon in Pisces (Oct 6) lights up your 9th house allowing a release of limiting beliefs and chance to recommit to your personal truth and spiritual path.
♌️ Leo Rising: Your chart ruler the Sun opposes Saturn and Neptune early October, potentially creating tension between self-worth, joint finances and partnerships. The Sun enters its debilitation sign of Libra on Oct 17. This can subdue your natural confidence in communication, especially with Venus (ruler of Libra) still debilitated in Virgo. The Uranus-Pluto trine continues to the long-term restructure your daily routines/health wellness goals and long-term career vision.
♍️ Virgo Rising: Mercury, your chart ruler, clashes with Mars in a graha yuddha (Oct 18–21) in your 2nd house. Be extremely conscious of conversations devolving into arguments over finances or due to power dynamics. The mutual exchange with debilitated Venus (Oct 9–23) offers a window to rework how you can diplomatically express yourself and receive value from others. Mercury moves into Scorpio Oct 24, bringing strategic focus to communication and courage.
♎️ Libra Rising: Your chart ruler Venus is debilitated in Virgo and passing through your 12th house of isolation and loss all month. Finding joy and connection with others require more effort. The mutual exchange with Mercury offers some relief through Oct 23, but after Oct 24 Venus loses support. (Keep in mind Mercury will also be engaged in a planetary war from October 18-21, which won’t help Venus much!). The Sun enters Libra Oct 17 (debilitated), shifting attention to finances but potentially weakening income, try to focus on what truly sustains you.
♏️ Scorpio Rising Mars, your chart ruler, spends most of October in your 12th house, creating lingering fatigue and internal focus. The Mercury-Mars graha yuddha (Oct 18–21) could stir anxious thinking or control issues, especially around finances within partnerships and earned income. Mars returns home to Scorpio Oct 27, regaining strength and clarity. You’ll feel more like yourself again with deeper emotional insight.
♐️ Sagittarius Rising Jupiter, your chart ruler, enters its exaltation sign of Cancer and your 8th house on Oct 18, bringing meaningful below-the-surface work through early December. This previews a longer chapter that begins in early 2026. The Mercury-Mars graha yuddha (Oct 18–21) suggests tension in romantic or business partnerships or career goals. Stay strategic and listen as much as you speak.
♑️ Capricorn Rising Saturn, your chart ruler, opposes the Sun through mid-month and Venus throughout October, asking hard questions about your inner world versus external obligations. Saturn and Neptune continue to hold down the midpoint of the Uranus-Pluto trine between your 1st and 5th houses. This rare configuration is quietly restructuring your sense of self, creative expression, and how you step into leadership, while asking you to build something real from the inside out.
♒️ Aquarius Rising Saturn, your chart ruler, anchors the Sun-Saturn opposition early October, highlighting tension between income/self-worth and shared resources/partnerships. Venus opposes Saturn all month, bringing heaviness to emotions and transformation to your spiritual path. Saturn and Neptune are still at the midpoint of the Uranus-Pluto trine, weaving together transformation in your home/emotions (4th), your sense of values (2nd), and your subconscious patterns (12th). Your inner world is being rewired with patient, spiritual precision.
♓️ Pisces Rising: Jupiter, your chart ruler, briefly enters exalted Cancer and your 5th house on Oct 18, bringing creative spark and expansive joy through early December. Pay attention to what lights you up now—this is a preview of the longer transit beginning June 2026. Saturn remains in your 1st house, slowly reshaping your identity and boundaries. Saturn and Neptune in Pisces act as the midpoint of the Uranus-Pluto trine, connecting your 1st house (self), 3rd house (voice/communication), and 11th house (community role)—your influence is growing from inner authority, not performance.
